Bespoke floors for Portishead's marina apartments, modern family homes and older village houses — specified for coastal, underfloor-heated living.
Portishead is really two towns in one. There's the marina and the newer developments around it — apartments and family homes, mostly built in the last twenty years, very often with underfloor heating and concrete subfloors. And then there's the older village, with the period houses on the roads behind it.
Those two need genuinely different specifications, which is why Grounded Flooring always looks at the subfloor and heating before recommending a floor here.

In the newer marina-side homes, underfloor heating over a screed subfloor is the norm, and that points firmly to engineered wood or LVT rather than solid timber, which moves too much. Correct acclimatisation and commissioning of the heating before fitting matters enormously.
Coastal humidity is a real factor here too. Engineered board and quality LVT both handle it well, which is why they make up most of our Portishead work — with restoration coming into play in the older village properties.
Yes — we work throughout Portishead, Pill and the wider BS20 area, on both the newer marina developments and the older village properties.
Engineered wood and quality LVT are both well suited; solid wood generally isn't, as it moves too much with heat. We also make sure the heating is commissioned and the floor acclimatised properly before fitting, which is where a lot of problems come from.
It's a real consideration. Engineered wood copes far better than solid, and LVT is unaffected — which is why we lean toward those in Portishead. We'll advise room by room.
Yes — apartments are common work for us here. We'll check the building's requirements on acoustic underlay, which most managed developments specify.
